MATARIKI KI TAPU-TE-RANGA 2023

Matariki ki Tapu-te-Ranga marked a special occasion, where the local community was invited to the first public event held at Tapu-te-Ranga marae since the passing of whare in the fire of 2019.

The Marae Community were able to provide a family-friendly event where activities, workshops and kai were provided free-of-charge.

Tapu-te-Ranga were able to practise the highest form of manaaki by preparing, serving and sharing kai with manuhiri. The event was concluded with a shared meal and speeches of memorial, appreciation and aspirations.

During these speeches we were able to share our gratitude for the support that we had received from the community over the past 30 years and express our collective desire to reciprocate that support by serving within the community. Future aspirations of rebuilding whare was shared and was well received by manuhiri.

Matariki ki Tapu-te-Ranga demonstrated our desire and capability to serve the community moving forward, allowing us to successfully reaffirm our support for each other and the community as a whole.

Tapu-te-Ranga Marae would like to thank Manatū Taonga and the continued support of our partners and the local community.
